Welcome to the Blog Series!

We are excited to present 17 blogs within three key themes featured above: Migration, Promise - Keeping, Hospitality & Sacrifice.

Each theme resonates with the interests and needs of pre-university and university students and represents our project's goals and values.

Every module has multiple blogs organized according to the following structure:

  • They start with a Torah passage (Parashah) that introduces the featured theme.

  • Next is an overview of ways to generally apply the Parashah in Balkan Classrooms and connect historical narratives with contemporary issues.

  • This overview is followed by specific lesson plans developed by esteemed professors and educators in their respective universities and high schools, who are featured authors of the Balkan Jewish Initiatives project’s curriculum and extracurricular events. You can find more about these events in the Events Page.

  • The remaining blogs feature Supplemental Educational Activities and Resources.

We know you will find this blog content to be very personally beneficial and helpful in reaching any target audience interested in learning more about the rich cultural and historical landscape of Jewish communities in the Balkans.

Additionally, we are proud to announce that we have two extension projects planned as follow-up to this initial effort. Both of these projects have been awarded and will be incubated in July 2024 at the Paideia Institute of Jewish Studies in Sweden.
